Minimizing our environmental impact, enhancing energy efficiency, and achieving ambitious carbon reduction goals are key priorities as we progress toward a sustainable future.

What we do

As a responsible company, VDMIL Group has established ambitious carbon reduction targets. Over the past year, we have increased our use of green electricity by 68%, significantly reducing our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Our robust environmental management system enables us to effectively monitor and track our progress in these areas.

Climate Protection

We are committed to reducing carbon emissions across our entire value chain. Since our fleet of over 16,000 vehicles contributes significantly to our emissions, we are actively working to lower our carbon footprint by optimizing technician routes and progressively transitioning to hybrid and fully electric vehicles.

We have been recognized on the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) A-List for the fourth consecutive year.
By the end of the 2022/23 fiscal year, we achieved a 24% reduction in direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2) emissions compared to our 2018/19 baseline.

Energy Efficiency

At VDMIL Group, we prioritize reducing our environmental impact by enhancing energy efficiency and setting ambitious carbon reduction goals. Our elevator systems are designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating regenerative drive technology that captures and reuses energy during descent, significantly lowering power consumption. Additionally, features like LED lighting and other energy-efficient components contribute to environmentally responsible building operations.

68% of the electricity used in our global operations is sourced from renewable energy.
VDMIL Group is committed to sustainability and has joined the global RE100 initiative, pledging to transition to 100% renewable electricity across all operations by 2030.

Environmental Management

As of 2022/23, 80% of our manufacturing centers have achieved ISO 14001 certification, while ISO 50001-certified factories account for 82% of their total energy consumption.

All our sites regularly track energy and water usage, along with waste data, to enhance resource efficiency.
We prioritize waste reduction and are committed to achieving zero landfill waste in our manufacturing facilities by 2026.
We actively promote recycling and the reuse of packaging materials, contributing to a circular economy.
Our Innovation and Qualification Center (IQC) in Atlanta (Georgia), U.S., manufacturing facility in Middleton (Tennessee), U.S., and offices in Zhongshan (China) have earned LEED Gold certification, while our elevator manufacturing site in Zhongshan (China) holds a LEED Silver certification.

Our Commitments

100% Renewable Energy: We are committed to powering our global operations entirely with renewable electricity by 2030.
Emission Reductions: Our goal is to cut operational emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) in line with the 1.5°C target set by the Paris Agreement and reduce value chain emissions (Scope 3) according to the SBTi’s ambitious criteria.
Net-Zero Target: We are dedicated to achieving net-zero global emissions by 2050 at the latest.
